Oil Rinsing Natural Hair Will Moisturize Low Porosity Hair!

Hello everyone this is Breanna Rutter author
of one of my most popular books the natural hair Bible and founder of howtoblackhair.com
for these videos I answer the question as you all send me via email so if any of you
have any questions you would like for me to answer be sure to check out the description
box below for additional information so now you get right on into the video in this video
is because of an email I received from Floretta, Floretta emailed me because she says she just
part of a new hair term called oil rinsing she’s not sure what it is what it does to
the hair and how she can even Incorporate it into her hair regimen so Floretta thank
you for your email and I’m going to tell you what it is and described you some steps that
you can take to start incorporating it into keeping your hair healthy maintain so the
very first thing that I’m going to stay is that oil rinsing is very similar to the LOC
method is just that with oil rinsing you don’t need a cream and for those of you who don’t
know what the LOC method is it’s just a way of learning products what’s your hair
to keep your hair moisturized for a longer period of time so for the LOC L stands for
liquid O stand for Oil and C stands for but when you are oil rinsing your hair what you’re
doing is using the L and the O and just skipping the cream so when doing oil rinsing you simply
want to make sure you have freshly washed hair and then you use oil whatever oil of
choice that you like use as a sealant and you want to run it through your hair and then
after that you rinse it out so that way you can maintain more moisturized hair for a longer
period of time this is extremely helpful for people who suffer with hard hair that just
feels really hard or crunchy or you just generally suffer from dry hair so one of the tips that
I’m going to share when you are deciding to oil rinse with your hair is that you first
want to make sure that your hair is very clean so if you already use curl friendly products
water-soluble silicones or any other ingredients they can easily be rinse our water you won’t
have to worry about him stripping anything out of your hair to begin oil rinsing but
if you use hair products that are filled with silicones or that are petroleum-based it’s
a must that you use a clarifying cleansing shampoo the only reason why anyone with curly
hair or natural or even relaxed hair should use a sulfate shampoo is to rid the hair of
product build up so if you’re using products that are easily rinse with water alone you
have to use a sulfate product to fully cleanse your hair up in your ingredients that can
cause build up so after you clean or shampoo your hair with a sulfate shampoo your hair
is not squeaky clean and this is the perfect hair to start with when you want to begin
oil rinsing now the next thing that you want to do is choose your will you want chosen
or this already liquidy so it’s very easy to apply its consistency onto your hair when
you are doing this process so anything from almond oil coconut oil jojoba oil grapeseed
oil olive oil any oil that’s already at a more liquidy or watery type of consistency
is the best one to use for oil rinsing so that way you can rinse off your hair after
you finish so the next you want to do after you have Freshly washed hair and you have
your oil of choice is to first saturate your hair with water it doesn’t have to be dripping
wet but it should be extremely damp right before it’s actually dripping wet you want
to apply a good amount of oil onto your hands rub your hands together and then rub it all
over your hair its best to make sure to focus on the ends since the ends is a driest part
of my hair so that way it can reap the most benefits so after you rub all of your oil
all over your hair you can leave for about 10 minutes this is going to allow for the
oil to further penetrate inside of your hair so that way your hair can be more moisturized
and you can actually get the effects of what you want from this process so that after that
the last thing you going to do is you going to rinse the oil out of your hair now you’re
not going to rinse all the oil because it’s going to be lubricated all over your strands
but the reason why you have to go back and rinse the oil last so that you have to much
oil on your hair so that way that is just enough this is a process that I only recommend
if you suffer with damaged hair are extremely dry hair or very crunchy or hard brittle feeling
hair and an extra benefit to incorporate as well oil rinsing is that when you do go to
rinse the oil off of your hair that’s bees sitting for 10 minutes you can apply conditioner
all of your hair and then do your final and this is gonna make your hair extremely soft
so you are really soft hair apply conditioner onm top of your oil and then rinse out and
because you already apply oil to your hair you don’t have to apply after you finish washing
you just have to style is usual in most cases you don’t even need to apply a cream as well
soap Floretta that is the whole breakdown of what rinsing is what it does to the hair
and the process that you can do to start incorporating into your regimen if needed so thank you for
your email and also thank you all for watching this video if you want to know any more information
I’ve mentioned make sure to check out description box but the next time I will see you all in
my next video

  6. I'm curious, if the oil is meant to seal the hair, why would you apply conditioner after the oil has been applied? Wouldn't this make it difficult for the conditioner to penetrate the hair shaft and do what its supposed to do?

  8. Ms B. I love your videos they help me a lot but I got a favor to ask you. I would love to see you do a Crochet straight hair with that braid pattern you did for your invisible sew in with the invisible knots on the top just to see if it can be done….. Please 😽

  9. I have low porosity hair and I'm considering this method. Should I start with warm water then rinse the oil with cold water?

  10. This was like the holy grail of my problems! I have very odd hair and it is as dry as Death Valley! at the same time, when it is moisturized it maintains a very straight texture especially if heat has been applied. Pressing comb is my go to along with flat irons and i will be exploring the ceramic versions of that soon enough. I have always noticed that my hair just LOOOVES coconut oil and it makes my hair feel incredible! I will definitely try this technique. I do have one question, CAN YOU DO THIS EVERY TIME YOU WASH YOUR HAIR AND SHOULD YOU? — thanks!
